Dr. Deane earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Occidental College in Los Angeles and a Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University in 1991. Her optometric internship rotations included the Wade Park Veterans Administration Hospital in Cleveland and the Contact Lens Research Clinic at Indiana University. She served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Medical Service Corps where, while stationed at Pearl Harbor, she met and married her husband. In 1995 she joined the Eye Medical Clinic, but after two years relocated with her family to Austin Texas where she built a thriving optometric practice. Upon returning to San Jose she rejoined the Clinic in 2004.
While in training Dr. Deane developed a strong interest in contact lenses and published a paper on complications associated with contact lens wear. She is an expert in fitting specialty designed contact lenses for patients with the most challenging medical problems such as keratoconus, trauma, corneal transplants, and irregular corneas. Cosmetic and mulitfocal contacts are an important part of her practice and she is also certified to fit the Paragon’s CRT lens for Corneal Refractive Therapy. In addition to contact lens fitting Dr. Deane provides comprehensive eye examinations and is licensed to diagnose and treat primary care eye conditions.
Dr. Deane continually strives to update her knowledge in optometric care, and the latest technology in contact lens materials and designs. She is particularly excited about the options now available with the newer, more permeable contact lens materials and the various improved versions of bifocal/multifocal contact lens designs.
Dr. Deane especially enjoys working with patients and finds it most rewarding in helping them achieve their optimal vision. She lives in San Jose with her husband Tim and their two young children.
