Dr. Roderick Biswell is an American Board Certified ophthalmologist practicing in San Jose, California. He obtained his undergraduate and medical school degrees at Stanford University in 1959 and 1962. Minneapolis General Hospital provided an excellent rotating internship. His ophthalmology residency was completed after three years of specialty training at the internationally recognized Department of Ophthalmology, University of California Medical Center, San Francisco. Dr. Biswell spent two years as an ophthalmologist in the U.S. Public Health Service, working with Navajo, Hopi and Zuni native Americans. During these years, he developed a special interest in cataract and corneal transplant surgery. He has specialized in those operations since beginning practice in San Jose.

Dr. Biswell has been associated with a group of highly qualified ophthalmologists since 1968 at the Eye Medical Clinic of Santa Clara Valley, 220 Meridian Avenue, San Jose. The Eye Clinic offers all aspects of eye care and most subspecialty fields, such as glaucoma, intraocular lens implant surgery, laser surgery, corneal transplant surgery, and ophthalmic plastic surgery, are represented. Dr. Biswell is dedicated to offering his patients the latest advances in cataract implant surgery and corneal transplant surgery. In addition, Dr. Biswell is involved in the emerging field of refractive surgery. At this time, he prefers LASEK as the procedure of choice.

Dr. Biswell's corneal and cataract microsurgery is done at O'Connor Hospital, an institution well known for modern quality ophthalmic surgical equipment and care. All of his surgery is performed under high magnification, utilizing the latest materials and surgical techniques. Outpatient surgery, or brief periods of hospitalization, can be expected. Good results and early rehabilitation are the goals of this form of modern ophthalmic microsurgery.
