The Light Adjustable Lens — Customize Your Vision After Cataract Surgery

Most lens implants require you to lock in your vision correction before surgery, based on measurements and predictions. The Light Adjustable Lens (LAL) from RxSight is different: it is the only intraocular lens that can be adjusted after your eye has healed, so your final prescription is based on how you actually see — not an estimate.

How it works

  1. Cataract surgery: your cloudy lens is replaced with the Light Adjustable Lens — the procedure itself is the same modern, small-incision surgery we perform for all cataract patients.
  2. Healing: over the following weeks, your eye heals and your vision stabilizes.
  3. Adjustment: in a series of short, painless office visits, a specialized UV light treatment reshapes the lens in your eye to fine-tune your prescription. You can “test drive” your vision between adjustments and refine it with your surgeon.
  4. Lock-in: once you’re satisfied, a final light treatment permanently locks in your prescription.

Do I have to wear special glasses?

Yes — UV-protective glasses during the adjustment period, until your final lock-in treatment.

What if I've had LASIK?
