Renew Your Vision with Laser Vision Correction

Spring is a time for renewal. At Eye Medical Clinic, we want to help you renew your vision! If you’re interested in Laser Vision Correction (LVC) and want to be free of your glasses, schedule a free consultation with our surgeon, Dr. Paik.

PRK – Photorefractive Keratectomy

PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is a type of Laser Vision Correction (LVC) surgery that was the first excimer laser procedure approved for use in the United States.

LVC describes a group of vision-correcting procedures that offer improved vision without the hassles and restrictions of glasses and contacts. The concept is simple—surgeons use a laser to reshape the front of the eye, changing its focusing power. LVC procedures are the most widely studied elective surgeries in history and enjoy an impressively high degree of patient satisfaction.

Used to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism, PRK is a ‘flap-free’ procedure that has comparable results to LASIK.

How Does PRK Work?

With PRK, surgeons gently clear away the very thin outer layer of the cornea. We then reshape the cornea with a laser to improve focusing power. The outer layer naturally regenerates itself after surgery.
